It's All About the STUDENTS

It's all about the students

 Kindergarten to 12.
It's not daycare. It's not because they have to go to school. It's about preparing these young people to be able to make smart, safe, and productive decisions. It's all about giving them
the power to choose.

CHOICE

I constantly tried to reinforce to my students that bettering yourself would give you the power of choice. Be so good that you can say no to one college because another wants you. Be so good that employers have to negotiate for you instead of you having to give in to them.

Why do I need to know this?

It's one of the most common questions a teacher hears. I'd usually respond, "Choice!"

I'd let my students know that today they might want to be nurse and tomorrow they might want to be a lawyer. Regardless of what they want today it's good to have many skills.

I'm really good at reading and social studies. I hate math. Can I channel my skills to a career that I'd like? You bet you can. Parents, guidance counselors, career centers, and a whole bunch of other sources can help you with what you might like to do and how to get there.
