/ "Time on Task"
The pressure on teachers is growing. The rate of burn-out is high and the ability to recruit and hire the best talent is difficult. Even if the most basic salary needs were able to be met; there is still a vital need to help the teacher in other areas of the classroom.
Teachers have to constantly work to the maximum of their capabilities. They are not able to teach one lesson to 25 students. They must be able to vary it to many different levels of students within one class. While focused on one group, they need to make sure several other groups are active and on task.
e.g. The whiteboard (let alone a chalkboard) is quickly becoming a dinosaur. We need to make sure they have the best tools available. With better presentation systems, like interactive whiteboards and remote student response systems; teachers are better able to prepare, present and assess lessons. They can drastically reduce duplication of effort in lesson planning/updating. Up-to-date technology also greatly increases students' level of interest, participation and time on task.
